What's inside

Keeping a narrative in the past tense is the single most common grammar slip AEIS markers see. This free worksheet from LearnUp explains the rule in plain English with Chinese support, walks through common before-and-after corrections, and gives 30 practice questions. A separate answer key is included so students can self-check. Part of the AEIS English Grammar Focus series.

How to use it

Follow the method in the workbook — read aloud, cover-and-recite, check, sleep on it, recite again the next morning. One paragraph per day, six days a week, finishes the workbook in under a month. On exam day, pick the paragraph that matches the prompt's emotion, swap the marked words, add a sentence either side. Done in under a minute.
